Wedding Supplier Spotlight: Hermione Harbutt

Are you a lover of a little bit of luxury? Craving some opulence? Are you all about the gorgeous sparkle?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then our wedding supplier spotlight today is a must read!

Hermione Harbutt creates stunning bridal accessories that become true heirlooms to pass down through the generations. Each design is meticulously made by hand taken hours upon hours and the results are simply stunning. She also offers a fabulous range of millinery, buttonholes and much more for any occasion you could think of - we particular love the socks on offer, so adorable! Here Hermione introduces herself and details a little bit more about her work as well as how the recent COVID-19 has altered the way she works. An added bonus is that we get to showcase her fantastic 2020 collection styled shoot images for you to fawn over. So enjoy!

It's always nice to introduce yourself with some fun facts so here goes. I grew up in Kenya and Tanzania and Africa will always have my heart. You can see the influence in my work, the organic shapes and delicate details all stem from a childhood surrounded by amazing flora and fauna, as well as the intricate beading of the Maasai jewellery which I saw as a child. I am passionate about elephant conservation.

I live in the pretty corner of Clifton, Bristol and I enjoy trapeze and aerial hoop in my spare time to keep fit and healthy in a really fun way. Hermione Harbutt is my real name, and the brand started from my home ten years ago! I feel very lucky to do what I do each day, designing and creating pieces for fabulous women all over the world!

I’ve always been a maker and I am entirely self-taught. While there wasn’t anywhere to train in the pieces I was always visualising in my mind, I set to find a way to make them a reality by starting to make pearl jewellery and growing from there. Every accessory is made from my lovely showrooms by hand using the finest materials with care and delicate attention to detail. It’s a pleasure to be part of every bride’s special day, and to create bespoke accessories for many special occasions.

My accessories are designed and made to order and often become heirlooms to treasure on a brides wedding day and always! I have been creating accessories for weddings and events since 2008. I’m incredibly lucky to enjoy what I do and I love the freedom of designing pieces for the hair.

Every piece is made by hand and is therefore entirely unique. The bespoke service offers my brides an option to have a piece made entirely their own to complement their dress design, wedding concept and venue perfectly. I can even make pieces to match for bridesmaids, mothers and even the groom and his groomsman. The options truly are endless!

At Hermione Harbutt, we offer personal one to one appointments in my cosy showrooms, and we often discuss designs with brides overseas over the phone, online and by email. We love discussing a brides’ plans for their special day and talking through their wedding ideas really gives me and my specialised team a feel for their individual style. It is a lovely experience trying on a range of hair accessories that they like until they choose their favourite pieces! It is a warm and welcoming environment and brides really enjoy the experience. As every piece is made by hand it can take between 6 and 8 weeks to make. The final appointment with every bride is very special; when they try on their final piece for the first time; it’s a wonderful moment to share with my brides and I’m delighted I am able to meet a lot of them in person.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have taken our consultation service online and now offer video appointments, enabling us to still talk through all the lovely options available for every bride virtually.

I have noticed a desire for height and statement with my recent brides who have chosen styles like the Artemis Crescent. For brides who love a beautiful balance of classic beauty, the Wild Rose Tiara is a perfect choice. For the boldest height, the gorgeous Anastasia Headdress is incredible.

There have also been requests for something with a touch of colour recently such as the Enchanted Garden Headdress and the Rachel Headdress.

We’re all feeling a little nostalgic due to current circumstances, and brides may like a vintage inspired look such as the Duchess Crown. Her sparkle is simply stunning!

I love meeting my brides in person, and sometimes their partners too, which is wonderful! It is a special time in their lives together and, while it can be a stressful time to put all their lovely plans in place, I would encourage them to enjoy the process, making the most of the experience together. It often goes by so quickly!

I absolutely love seeing my brides walk away happy after they’ve enjoyed the experience with me and my specialised team. It’s so rewarding to do what you love each day and meeting each and every bride is a unique and lovely experience. Hair accessories and jewellery are incredibly personal accessories to wear and I am delighted to be a part of my brides’ special day.

We have managed to take appointments online while current circumstances have meant that my showrooms have been closed. During this time, I undertook a very special initiative raising £2,400 for NHS and refuge! Now that has finished I am looking forward to reopening the Bristol and London showrooms to all my lovely ladies again.

We are delighted to be reopening our showrooms in both Bristol and London from 4th July and are looking forward to welcoming our lovely brides again. We will of course be adopting a very safe and comfortable way of working by making changes to our procedures to make sure your appointment is as safe and enjoyable as always. To begin with we will be appointment based only to maintain safe measures.

With so many couples postponing their weddings in the last few months, we hope this gives them something to look forward to! In the meantime the latest 2020 collection can be discovered on the website where you can save all the pieces you love in your favourites!
