Wedding Supplier Spotlight: Charlotte Cross London
One of the founding principles of Chosen Wedding Fair is that we encourage each and every couple to have the day of their dreams and to really think about being themselves as individuals on their special day. This principle goes hand in hand with any one waningt a bespoke outfit - a piece that only you will ever wear is bound to pack a punch!
Today for our wedding supplier spotting we introduce Charlotte Cross London, a bridal wear designer who is on hand to design the dress of your dreams. Her work is simple dreamy, as you will be able to see from the images featured here. So it's over to Charlotte to introduce herself as well as chat through how her service works and how she has adapted during the current COVID-19 pandemic to help others.

Well Hello there everyone! My wedding specialty is the I design and make bespoke wedding dresses from my home-studio in East London. I love chatting to brides-to-be about their dream wedding outfit and then making that a reality for them. The best moment by far is seeing the bride in their completely unique dress at the final fitting. It is a pleasure to be able to work creatively and to bring to life the dress that the bride thought existed only in their imagination.
Fun fact about me - One of my favourite life experiences was on my honeymoon in Japan, where I dressed as Yoshi from Mariokart, and took part in a real life Mariokart race around the streets of Tokyo with my husband dressed as Donkey Kong! It was so much fun, albeit a little hair-raising - driving on the roads next to lorries in a tiny little kart! But it’s a fantastically fun way to see the city and as longtime Nintendo fans we just had to do it. I highly recommend it!
Having a bespoke wedding dress made for yourself gives you complete freedom to create anything that you desire! You don’t need to compromise on a dress and instead can have a style that flatters you and suits your personality.
I am reminded of a bride who wanted a dress with a full, dramatic skirt for her ceremony, but also wanted a more relaxed, easy dress for the evening. The answer was simple - why compromise! So, we created a dress that had both! A gorgeous full skirt that could be removed for the evening allowing the bride to dance the night away.
I have had brides-to-be enquiring about dresses specifically for the party occasion of their wedding and I think this is an exciting area that could grow in popularity. Brides want to be able to express themselves freely and so are looking to add more flexible outfit options to their wedding day. I’m currently developing my own mini-collection of ‘wedding party’ dresses which I’ll be showing at the next London Chosen Wedding Fair.

The most common question I am asked is how much time is needed to create a dress. The answer is that it varies from style to style - some I work on for 12 months, others have been done in 2!
Creating a wedding dress for someone is a very personal experience. It takes an average of about 6-9 months to create the perfect dress and I usually get to know the bride-to-be quite well. That relationship helps me to understand what type of dress is right for her.
We start with an initial consultation to discuss everything about the wedding and look at style inspirations the bride has found. I then create sketches of the dress and when we’re ready we move onto dress fittings and fabric selections. The bride’s dress is tweaked and refined to suit her taste. The final wedding dress is sewn with the highest attention paid to ensure that it’s absolutely perfect and our bride will feel fantastic on her wedding day.
Deciding on what you will wear on your wedding day is a very exciting choice to make, but it can sometimes be a hugely daunting part of planning your wedding. My advice to brides-to-be is to try on as many different dress shapes as you can. Don't be defined what people advise you should wear or what they think suits you - get out there and try various skirt shapes, sleeves and necklines as you may be surprised what suits you and what you feel great in.
I suppose it's the time I mention the dread "C" word on everyones minds at present. I think everyone has been affected by the Coronavirus in some way. My clients who were due to get married this year have had to unfortunately postpone their weddings which has been such a hard decision for them to make.
While business has slowed for myself and the wedding industry in general, I have taken this time to develop my collections further including the "wedding party" dress range which I am absolutely loving creating. I have been using my time to support our beloved NHS frontline workers by making scrubs for the ‘For The Love of Scrubs’ group as well as face masks for key workers. I never thought I’d be sewing things like this, but I really wanted to help in any way that I could and it’s nice to be a part of such a big online community that have all come together to sew our way through these hard times.

I’m so happy to be exhibiting at the next London event and am pleased to announce an exclusive offer to all Chosen Wedding Fair followers out there. I would like to offer a discount of 15% off the price of your wedding outfit.
