With the idea of assisting any of us who would like to know more about florals, who are on a tight budget and would like to DIY, or simply for those of us who love to have and give flowers Emma will be bringing us a wealth of information and pretty over the coming weeks.

Hi lovelies and welcome to the second instalment of the Flower Recipes Blog.

Today I will be taking you through how to make a flower wreath. Flower wreaths are one of my most favourite creations to make. Something about creating a beautiful circle is so therapeutic and they are a great statement piece - you can use them as table decorations in their own right, additions to beautiful candelabras and they always look wonderful on the front door. I particularly love marking the changing of the seasons with a wreath - they’re not just for Christmas!

To begin, you will need scissors, an oasis wreath and, very importantly, your beautiful flowers. Depending on the size of your wreath depends on the amount of flowers, I’ve used a 12 inch wreath.

I decided on subtle blush tones for the flowers, using 7 David Austin roses, 3 delightful dahlias, 2 blush hydrangeas and 2 white hydrangeas, merging the blush and white flowers together.

While you are preparing your work area, and making that all important cuppa, soak your oasis ring for about an hour. You can pop it in the sink or if you’re making a few, use the bath. Once it’s finished soaking, clean the base and dry it off. If your creation is going to be sitting on a table cloth, you don’t want to make it dirty when arranging it in the perfect position!

***TOP TIPS***

Cut the stems at an angle, this will make it easier to insert into the foam.

Make sure that the base inside and outside of the circle is covered with the flowers, the last thing you want is for your guests to see the unsightly green tray popping out of your wonderful creation.

Try to keep the inside circle of your arrangement neat - keep the flowers close to the oasis here, especially if the wreath is going to be used with a candelabra.

Lastly and like I’ve said before, this is your creation so relax and go with the flow, allow your creative juices to take over and most importantly, enjoy it!
