Hey All!

Happy Easter to you! Today Im happy to introduce to you a true craftsman, an artist, a jeweller and exhibitor who will be joining us at the fair next weekend in Islington - Maya Selway. Maya’s work is varied, creating objects and jewellery, both of which are inspired by nature and have a real unique, precious and genuinely individual feel to them.

Maya crafts timeless pieces of jewellery that are both understated yet compelling in their delicate lines and textural detailing.

Inspired by the impermanence and imperfection of nature, Maya works intuitively and organically using ethically sourced 18ct gold; cognac, mink and white diamonds; rubies and sapphires. With an eye for restrained detail, intriguing in its intricacy, Maya introduces unconventional techniques such as gold dust fusing to create luxurious, enduring classic that transcend time and passing trends.

“I mainly work to commission, making things that are versions of pieces of my collection. Working to commission is rewarding, creating something just right for my client and the challenge of finding unusual stones is what I love most about my job. Jewellery holds sentimental value whether it’s a new piece, or, jewellery that has been passed down. With that in mind I also take clients existing jewellery and create a new piece that is truly unique.

I recently made a set of wedding bands, cast in the melted gold from handed down family rings. This added an emotional layer to what is already a meaningful piece of jewellery, which really meant a lot to my client.”
