Wedding Supplier Spotlight: Gettin' Hitched Rocks

Planning a wedding can seem uber difficult, especially when it comes to relaying all the important details to your nearest and dearest and keeping tab on who can or can't make it. If only there was a way to relay all this information that adapts as the wedding gets closer.....

Well you are in luck as today as part of our wedding supplier spotlight series we chat to Mell of Gettin' Hitched Rocks - a bespoke wedding website service that can be synced with stationery and is interactive to enable you to easily plan the best day of your lives.

Hi Mell let's start by finding out a little bit more about you and your business, fire away....

So firstly I'm Mell (hello) and I started Gettin' Hitched Rocks after planning (and designing and coding!) my own wedding.

I am basically hygge personified. I live for cosy cardigans, cups of tea, and cuddles with my rescue dog, Riley. I'm also the world's biggest nerd. (I checked!) I taught myself how to code when I was 12, on my family's bulky '90s PC, and I haven't stopped since!

We make (awesome) wedding websites that change for every guest. You can show different RSVP forms, hide ceremony details from your evening guests, and ask your wedding party to arrive early (without everyone else rocking up at 6am). In line with the website we also make (gorgeous) matching stationery, so you can carry the same design, humour, and personality across your whole wedding.

We have our own house collection ranges, which can be customised to better fit a couple's wedding, and we can also create completely bespoke designs.

Our websites change for every guest you invite, so evening-only guests don't see any details about the ceremony and don't get asked what they want to eat, and only the wedding party see the rehearsal dinner details.

And, because the website handles the RSVPs, it can automatically send reminders to the guests who need them to get your replies in on time, without you having to make those awkward chase-up phone calls!

Our websites take the stress out of wedding planning, by making sure your guests know exactly what they need to know (And taking the awkward bits off your plate!).

We also offer concierge and copywriting services, so you can focus on the fun parts of wedding planning (like cake tastings!) instead of building your website and researching hotels in the area!

So how does the process work once you have chosen to book you service?

We usually start with a chat to find out what a couple would like. Some couples want to get everything together themselves, but maybe have another pair of eyes to spell-check and proof-read things for them. Others would prefer to have the job taken off their plate. We think getting hitched should rock (thus the name!), so we're happy to do whatever we can to help keep you WHELMED!

If a couple would like some changes to our designs, we work with them to find the right fonts and colours for their wedding. If they'd like a bespoke design, we start with a mood board to make sure we're on the same page about the style and the feel, then we make some rough sketches with different ideas we could explore. When the couple has picked a favourite, we'll flesh it out into a full, colour design, and then code it, for a website, or get it printed and packed up for the courier!

What sort of questions do you find that couples often ask you?

A lot of couples get really excited about the idea of changing a website for different people and try to work out where the boundaries are. They ask if we can code new features and do some really awesome things. My answer is simple "Absolutely" - for me it's not only a new challenge but a real passion to bring the couples personality to life in their sites.

How has COVID-19 effected you and work?

We're quite lucky that we haven't been too badly affected - we can build websites anywhere that has wifi! We're doing all we can to help our couples who are postponing their weddings or facing uncertainty, by giving everyone an extra year on the platform for free and making changes to our concierge websites for free.

We always donate 5% of every sale to charity, choosing a different one every month but, during lockdown, we're also donating 5% to the Trussell Trust, to help fund food banks for anyone who might need them during a hard time.

We want to give a little discount to Chosen Wedding Fair readers and followers so you can get 10% off your order with the code 'chosen' - Nice!

This offer expires on .

Finally what top tips do you have for couples planning their big day?

The amount of forethought, planning, and organisation you have to do; there's so much involved in planning a wedding to begin with, and it's only made harder when you realise every person you talk to, from your parents to your dog-walker, has some very specific ideas about what your wedding 'NEEDS' to be like, that they will not hesitate to thrust on you.

It's easy to second guess your decisions and wondering if you're doing things wrong - but there's no wrong way to have a wedding. At the end of the day, if you're married to a person who loves and supports you, you've done it exactly right.

Getting your guests to RSVP on time is honestly going to be the hardest part of your wedding planning. So many people will just put it off, meaning to get to it later. Some people - like your wedding party or your parents! - might even assume they don't need to RSVP since you know they're coming. Forgetting you also need to know what they want to eat! A wedding website really will make your life easier. Even if you don't get one from us, get one! You'll be able to see your RSVPs as they come in, so there's no worry that anything got lost in the mail, you'll be able to see who's logged in and who hasn't, and who's responded and who hasn't. And you can automatically send your guests reminders to RSVP, which takes the awkwardness out of it for you! We're all about keeping you stress-free. Our websites take the hard bits off your plate, but we also talk to our couples and give them advice wherever we can. I even write an agony aunt column just for wedding planning problems!

My top tip (other than get a website - hold back some invites! There are bound to be people you'd love to have at the whole day if you could only fit them in. Instead of inviting them to the evening, see if anyone RSVPs no first. The "No's" usually come in early since people know if they definitely can't come, due to a prior commitment. If any second cousins can't make it, you can bump your mates up to day guests without them knowing they didn't make the original cut! We actually have a free email course on how to plan a stress-free wedding at staywhelmed.com if you'd like even more top tips! (Topper tips...?)

At Gettin' Hitched Rocks, we help keep our couples sane wherever we can by taking some of the heavy lifting off their shoulders with our wedding websites and notifications, and with our blog, where we give tips and advice (and reveal all the things other couples think they shouldn't have done).

Ultimately your day should feel like you. Don't feel you have to work down a checklist of 'how things should be'; all it 'should' be is yours, with your personality and your sense of humour.

If you enjoy the day, you've done it right, no matter what you did or how much money you spent, or what your Aunt Florence thought of the cummerbund situation.

Don't forget the offer of saving 10% off your orders ends on and can be accessed via the website HERE.
