Wedding Supplier Spotlight: Aurora Collective

When planning a wedding you tend to find you make a priority list of what you want and where it is best to spend the big amounts of money. By far the best investment of your money is on the people who capture you day so you can look back at the day and remember the awesome day you had. Sometimes you find that a couple can focus purely on photography and think about getting a videographer at a later date. With today's spotlight we chat you Aurora Collective who are able to offer both Photography and Videography all in one, thus taking that pressure off finding that videographer later on in your planning journey.

Aurora Collective are made up of Oscar, Harry and Rebecca. In their own words:

"We are a team of three good friends that are incredibly passionate about what we do. We specialise in Photography and Videography and work for many different clients from magicians, weddings, events to pet portraits. The team love to work creatively and have a relaxed approach. Aurora take pride in using our profession to help with charities, 10% of our pet portraits go to animal shelters and the same amount from our wedding packages goes to Women's Aid to help put a stop to child marriages."

Rebecca told us that "Photography is so special to me as I have been taking photos since I was a child, for me, it's all about celebrating those unique and special moments for people. The idea that our photographs will be something that people will keep close to them, share with family and future generations will look at to remember feels great. The sentimental aspect of this business is what really inspires me. they are passionate about capturing those special moments for you to remember with such joy. We chatted to them about what makes them tick and we also found out about an amazing styled shoot that they were recently involved with that will give you lots of style inspiration for your big day."

Alongside Photography Rebecca teaches art and photography at a secondary school, she have won awards for my photography which I used to raise awareness for a charity and were displayed in the Houses of Parliament.

Working as part of Aurora is her absolute passion. Harry is the photography master and Oscar is our official videographer, both have also won awards for their work and all together they ensure that the highest quality image production is delivered to our clients.

We asked them what they thought was the thing that makes them stand out from the crowded market.

"Our USP has to be the creativity we put into every shot, Aurora frequently set creative targets before every wedding and we aim to produce something artistic and different to give our clients. We also offer video with our packages, including the use of a drone to give that modern, cinematic feel. A video really is the cherry on top!

I believe that brides and grooms find this special as we have a very relaxed and friendly approach, our aim is to make them feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. If we can get them having a giggle and pulling a silly face, I feel we've done it right! "

So what's the process involved when looking to work with the team?

Harry told us "We always begin with an informal phone call to say hello and arrange a consultation, this can be anywhere the client chooses, at home, a pub or cafe, drinks always on us! After the consultation we usually head off to a location chosen by the clients for a mini photoshoot. This is instantly an ice breaker and really helps our couples get a feel for what its like being in front of the lens. The clients usually choose a place that is special to them, maybe a place they often go for walks or even a cafe where they met!"

Oscar continued that "In a world where instant imaging is everywhere, we want our videos and images to be worth the wait. A day or so after a wedding we will share a few previews however to really get the best out of the footage a few weeks wait I believe is necessary, this gives us time to edit and create albums that flow beautifully. We want our clients to say 'WOW' at every image."

Are there any big trends that one should be aware of when planning the photography and videography for their special day?

"Pop up photo booths on the other hand, are becoming incredibly popular, Aurora are looking into creating a Polaroid Photo Booth for those who love that instant imaging. Another upcoming trend is the use of drones at weddings. We LOVE using the drone, and so do the guests, this thing can entertain the children of a wedding party for quite some time. Shot's of kids chasing the drone are not uncommon and add so much to a video. Using a drone requires special permits and licenses which we always have to hand."

Aurora Collective recently worked along some great supplier on a wild flower inspired shoot organised by Not Just a White Wedding with the aim of changing the wedding industry and showcasing true representation within the industry itself due to the fact that the visual representation inside the wedding industry has become very whitewashed. It time for this to change and we couldn't agree more! You can hear more about this in an interview with the founders HERE

We are loving all the pops of vibrant colours throughout this shoot - definitely a shoot that appeals to the heart of us here at Chosen Wedding Fair. Also that green and yellow grooms wear combo is so much fun!
